Tales From The Crib - Share Your Parenting Stories

Upon bringing our new baby boy home about 6 months ago, I was wondering how I was going to explain the differences to our 3 year old daughter. Instead of starting something I thought I would just let her see for herself.

She sat and watched us change his diaper for the first time at home, and I thought "here we go" just then she says "Huh, look at that?" I said "what?" she then said "He only has one finger on his bum." She then walked away shaking her head and chuckling "one finger". Now if you ask her what he has she says "Michael has only one finger on his bum......And he pees with it!"

It's funny how kids hear things. I sing the "Hush Little Baby" lullaby
to my 3 and 5 year old. One day I heard my three-year old singing it but here's what he was saying: "Hush Little Baby don't say a word, Mama's gonna buy you a walking bird".

Just as I about recovered from my laughter, I heard my 5 year-old correcting him by singing, "Mama's gonna buy you a rocking bird, if that rocking bird won't sing, Mama's gonna buy you a pretty mirror."

After taking my 4 yr old bowling one night, we stop by the grocery store on the way home. In the check out line my son Spencer looks up at me and says “mom, I want a nakin (napkin) to wipe my balls”, everyone looks and I thought that I should explain that we just went bowling and almost everyone at the bowling alley wipes their bowling ball after it is returned to them.
